You wish to escape him by running away from time. You wish fate will never catch you. But time flees and you will never know your future. As you open your eyes again after a sweet short journey in a land called dream, he may be standing before you, looking at you with a cold smile. And then you unlucky person will be dragged down into your grave. Forever sleeping a dreamless dream, forever being gone.

So it's Easter and what am I contributing to DA? A surrealistic piece about death, of course!
I am not religious and yeah, I don't really give a f*** about christian celebrastions. But this pic can also relate to this day though, if you want. It's about life and death (especially death) and that suits to a celebration which originally was even heathen origin and meant to celebrate the return of spring, the season of new life and fertility. But there can only be new life when old beings and organisms die. (common sense!)

I also intended to make this slightly eroguro-influenced for the sake of creating that strange link between light fear and beauty (combined with the macabre). Death is something really diverse. It can be beautiful (yeah, it can), it can make you afraid too. But it also may be a nightmare fuel. It depends on the way how someone or something had to leave this world.

Notice how the bodiless undead head feeds the growing (fantasy) flower. That's the scary but necassary bound between the dead and living. Everything else is up to ypur interpretation because I think the great thing about art is that everyone will see something different dependent on their world views, thoughts, experiences, etc.

sry for the late reply. I am fucking busy at the moment and so inactive, it is terrible XD
But yes, this was done with watercolor. Almost all of my traditional drawings were made with that medium <3

I love how creepy and surrealistic this picture is! It's a sort of Gothic style I hope to emulate one day.

I love how you explain a small part of the overall piece, and then leave the rest of it for the beholder.

Moreover, I see a lot of depth. You took many different views and feelings regarding death and blended them.
I've never thought of such an idea, much less ever seeing it on dA. I'm shocked. This is so entirely beautiful.

Thank you very much. I appreciate it very much that you like the little message of my image about death.
I always prefer to let other people interpret my images. I think that's even what makes art art. I can see why many users on DA lack that view. Most people on this site just want to share some doodles or their stories, characters, fanarts... most of their work doesn't let much place for others to give their own opinion.

I feel like you are a true artist. You put something
up here and you let others speculate as to what it
might mean to them. It's beautiful because you get
to hear some pretty deep thoughts. It's a wise move to
allow room for such speculation, rather than just force
feeding some art down our throats. :)

Thank you really much. I feel honoured whenever calls me a true or real artist ^^
I think it is the main task or ability of art that other people can see your work and see other things in it than you. It is interesting to hear their opinions on it. And sometimes the artist him or herself can learn something new. And that's also how art builds up communication between the artist and the viewers of his work.
And I don't like what you mentioned, to force an already given interpretation or meaning down people's throats.

Well, I had to say it because you are! :)

It is generally a bad thing to force something
down another's throat, whether it be a belief
or an inspiring thought or an ideal.
