Und im Albtraume ward ein Ungeheuer geboren

Ugh, it's almost Easter and my gallery is starving. So it's finally time to feed it with some new and fresh art, hm?

This pic here is an artwork for my story "Nachtmahr", which starres Charon (that creepy red eyes Death God you may already be familiar with), Nachtmahr and a young girl/dreaming woman. Every night that woman goes to bed and falls asleep she starts dreaming about how she is a nameless young girl searching for her way back home in a rather fantastical world that defies any law of nature and physics. She meets Nachtmahr, king of the mares, who promises her to bring her home – but for a price: she has to lead him into the depths of the dream world in order to help him regaining his "treasure".
On their search and journey they meet strange creatures and places and meet Charon, aka Death, who wants to seduce the young girl Nachtmahr names Psyche, into giving up her life.

I tried to picture the feeling of being stuck in a strange, horrifying dream and yet also being unable to awake and break out from it. That's what happens to the young woman: her dreams start to consume her, more and more the deeper Psyche enters the dream world. It's dangerous and scary – will she be betrayed by Nachtmahr and forever be caught in those dreams? What the monster has to do here and what the objects on the table are for (hint: it was inspired by Vanitas symbolism) is up to you.
This image surely was a great way to practice certain things, such as creating a night scene. It's not so easy to use a range of cooler colours to achieve this effect, I fear the shading in her hair isn't as good as it could be.
